I never thought I would want to work with "little kids"! After tutoring kindergartners and adults who were emergent readers though, I knew that despite how much I love my middle schoolers, I really wanted to work at the level where literacy development begins. So after teaching at Henderson Middle School for six years, I bid my HMS family goodbye and joined the amazing staff at Bellevue Elementary School as the Title I Reading Specialist. This year, I am welcomed by the intelligent and creative staff at Russell Elementary School in Portland, Oregon. I can't wait to see the differences in education, policy, and practice here!
When I'm not dorking around with teacherly things, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, thrifting, exploring nature, reading, and eating! I have been married to my amazing husband Rob since 2010. We are excited to begin a new chapter of life together in Oregon and to experience living in another part of our vast country.
